oli-studio is a design studio founded by Oli Studholme, a New Zealand native living in Japan. We love it when things just work, and in design this is what we strive for. We do this by understanding the user’s viewpoint & the client’s goals, and basing our designs on this. After all, if it’s hard to use, your customers won’t.
Our interests include usability, information architecture, internationalization (or ‘i18n’) & accessibility, and how these contribute to human-centered design. For web design the use of web standards is also important. Our design process ideally involves extensive research & planning, user interviews and continuous usability testing. By becoming immersed, the design is inspired by the project and focused on the user. This gives the client something unique, solidly based on the project’s goals, and very usable.

Oli Studholme is a New Zealander living with his wife in Japan. He has been strongly influenced by both countries, especially in his love of simplicity and natural forms. His main expertise lies in design for web and print media, but he is interested in all aspects of design. For him design means creating something usable and emotive, not merely making something pretty. He is most happy when making something that will be a joy to use.
